Visitors to the Shaputuan Museum

Among the cruise passengers who step onto the Sept-Îles wharf, many choose to visit the Shaputuan Museum, the Innu's great home. Immersed in a circular projection system, they experience the ancestral way of life of this Indigenous nation. During a visual and sound excursion into the territory, they dive into history and discover the traditional activities associated with each season. Gradually, the past becomes the present. The image of a thousand-year-old culture comes to life before their eyes, new knowledge is revealed and the feeling of a shared humanity is born in their hearts. Welcome home!

Inside the Shaputuan Museum, an exhibition presents the history of the Innu People in accordance with the four seasons. People are observing and discussing in front of the exhibition’s components. A small staircase leads to a central area where about thirty people are sitting. An immersive projection is presented in this circular area where the set up embodies an Indigenous tent.
