Dancing to Heal

The Lac-Simon community has been through difficult times. Its members will meet tonight to help heal this wound, still fresh. The women have cooked dishes that everyone will share. After the meal, the tables will be placed along the walls. The evening will begin with a spiritual song and then there will be dancing in a circle around the drummers. One foot in front of the other, the dark clouds will fade away and give way to the joys of being together.

In the community hall, several people are sitting on chairs along the walls. Above the entrance, a large fresco overlooks the room. In the centre, two large wooden tables on which fifteen drums and many water bottles take place. Two microphones are in the center of the table. Fourteen men are sitting around the tables. Children are having fun and running around the room. The drummers stand up and start drumming and singing.
