Walking Towards the Sunset
Ken Warren Gunn. People on St. Catherine Street
August 23, 2017
Montreal
Ken Warren Gun has not had an easy life. Despite being excluded from his community, dealing with mental health issues and going through repeated suicide attempts, rain isn’t on the horizon for this sensitive artist. In Montreal, his new territory, he takes long walks, contemplating his future. He’s good-natured, likes to tell jokes and is always the first to laugh. As a warrior of dreams and a free-spirited creator, he writes and draws. In 2018, a sentence from one of his poems was used as a title for an exhibition of contemporary Indigenous art: "The Queen owes me ten trillion dollars, and that’s just a start." Just a start!
