Odanak. Today is the traditional fall Pow Wow. The community is gathered in memory of those who were and who are now walking on the path of the spirits. There are drum groups and the Aw8sissak Akik troop, always welcomed with honour at official events. The troop sings in the language of the ancestors, which few people in the room know, but which makes the whole assembly vibrate. It’s time to sing the Snake Song, a call to gather, participate and celebrate the bonds. Adults, youth and seniors know and appreciate it. As they dance, they join their voices with the troop. Ya yeaah- hay we guy wanna hay....
